Ipomoea - Kniola's Black

Moody, velvety, and completely spellbinding, Ipomoea ‘Kniola’s Black’ brings a deliciously dramatic note to the summer garden. This gorgeous morning glory opens wide, inky purple-black blooms that seem to glow from within, creating a rich, dusky contrast against fresh green, heart-shaped foliage. It is romantic, a little mysterious, and absolutely fabulous for gardeners who love flowers with depth, drama, and a touch of the unexpected.

Fast-growing and wonderfully showy, ‘Kniola’s Black’ Morning Glory is listed at about 12 to 24 inches tall, but its twining stems can climb or trail much farther with support, often reaching 6 to 10 feet in a season. Give it a trellis, fence, arbor, obelisk, porch railing, or roomy container, and it will quickly soften hard edges, cover vertical spaces, and create a lush seasonal screen. The dark, velvety blooms are especially striking with white flowers, silver foliage, lime-green leaves, apricot annuals, and bright zinnias, where they add moody contrast to cottage gardens, patio plantings, and sunny borders.

Plant Ipomoea ‘Kniola’s Black’ in full sun with regular water and provide support early so the twining stems can begin their climb. Easy, quick, and wonderfully atmospheric, this morning glory is perfect for adding height, romance, and midnight color to warm-season gardens. Explore more garden climbers in our Vines collection.
