Mimulus - Eleanor

Bright, cheerful, and wonderfully garden-friendly, Mimulus ‘Eleanor’ brings a lively display of colorful, open-faced monkeyflower blooms to beds, borders, containers, and pollinator plantings. Also known botanically as Diplacus ‘Eleanor’, this California native monkeyflower selection has that irresistible painterly charm gardeners love, with blooms that feel playful, natural, and full of personality. Nectar-rich and beautifully inviting, it is especially lovely where hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators can visit the flowers up close.

‘Eleanor’ grows about 12 to 18 inches tall, making it a beautiful choice for gardeners who want long-lasting seasonal color with a soft, habitat-friendly feel. Use it in mixed containers, along pathways, in part-shade borders, on sunny slopes, or near patios where the cheerful flowers can be enjoyed at eye level. Its bright blooms pair beautifully with native sages, yarrow, heucheras, ferns, buckwheats, grasses, and other California garden companions, creating a planting that feels colorful, easygoing, and naturally at home.

Plant Mimulus ‘Eleanor’ in sun, part sun, or part shade with well-drained soil. In warmer inland gardens, a little afternoon shade can help keep plants looking fresh. Water regularly while establishing, then provide occasional deep watering once established, allowing the soil to drain between waterings. Easy, colorful, and full of native garden charm, this monkeyflower is a delightful addition to pollinator-friendly plantings.
