Chicago

This painting is a vibrant, energetic cityscape rendered in a bold, impressionistic style. The skyline, instantly recognizable as Chicago with its iconic Willis (Sears) Tower and other distinct high-rises, is composed of angular geometric forms that rise dynamically against a dramatic sky. The artist employs an intense, saturated palette, dominated by pinks, oranges, yellows, purples, and blues, applied in broad, expressive brushstrokes that create a sense of texture and movement throughout the composition.

The sky glows with radiant hues, transitioning from warm oranges and yellows at the horizon to deeper pinks and purples higher up, evoking either a sunrise or sunset and lending the scene a sense of warmth and vibrancy. The buildings themselves are a patchwork of color, their surfaces reflecting and refracting the colorful light in a mosaic-like fashion, which gives the city a lively and almost electric energy.

Below the city, a marina filled with boats lines the waterfront, depicted with quick, gestural strokes in white, blue, and lavender tones that reflect the water’s shimmering surface. The water beneath mirrors the explosion of colors above, enhancing the composition’s dynamic unity.

Overall, the painting captures the bustling spirit and architectural grandeur of Chicago, transforming its familiar skyline into a celebration of color, light, and modern artistic expression.
