Er ist der einflussreichste lebende Filmkomponist: John Williams. „The Legend of John Williams“ würdigt nun sein großartiges Schaffen in nie zuvor dagewesener Vollständigkeit.
Auf 20 CDs umfasst diese Edition nicht nur die jüngsten Arbeiten John Williams, sondern auch seine frühesten Werke der 1960er Jahre. Darunter kultige Original-Soundtracks für STEVEN SPIELBERG (Jaws, E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindlers Liste), GEORGE LUCAS (Star Wars), ALFRED HITCHCOCK, CLINT EASTWOOD u.v.m.
Außerdem enthält die Sammlung Aufnahmen mit dem BOSTON POPS und eine Reihe von John Williams' Konzertwerken, darunter die seltene "Sinfonietta für Bläserensemble" mit dem EASTMAN WIND ENSEMBLE und Aufnahmen mit ANNE-SOPHIE MUTTER, dem RECORDING ARTS ORCHESTRA OF LOS ANGELES, BOSTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA und den BERLINER PHILHARMONIKERN.
Ergänzt wird die Sammlung mit einer großen Auswahl von Liedern, die Williams im Laufe seiner Karriere verfasst hat, darunter auch Coverversionen von FRANK SINATRA, ELLA FITZGERALD, COUNT BASIE, HENRY MANCINI, ANDRÉ PREVIN, LUCIANO PAVAROTTI und BARBRA STREISAND.
In dem begleitenden 44-seitigen Hardcover Buch sind ein neues Interview mit John Williams, Archivfotos und Zitate von Wegbegleitern (Oliver Stone, Jean-Jacques Annaud and Alan Bergman) zu finden.
20 CDs - 22 Stunden - 60+ Jahre Musik... Dieses Set ist das ultimative und unverzichtbare Box-Set: eine Erkundung aller Gebiete des John-Williams-Kontinents. Besser: die Quintessenz einer Legende.
